We are in castle row!!!

This is Rheinfels Castle. We have stories about some of the castles, but this isn't one of them.  Will work on a good photo op with an appropriate story later today. Our guide on the ship is reminding us that the romantic idea of living in a castle in medieval times is rubbish.  No bathrooms, no running water, and cold humid air.  To me this tells us of the power of the rich commentary by many of our authors to convince us that life was indeed much different than reality.  Many castles were ruined by Louis XVI three or four hundred years ago.  The Second World War did not target any of the castles as there was no strategic reason to aim for the castles.
